Sabashni Gounden


Profile:


Sabashni Gounden graduated with her BA LLB degrees in 1994. Thereafter she was involved in the facilitating and opening of the Department of Justice pilot project- The Family Court Centre at the Durban Magistrate’s Court. She operated an advice desk as a Domestic Violence and Maintenance Advice Officer at the Durban Court initially under Lawyers for Human Rights, and thereafter under the banner of the DVAP (Domestic Violence Assistance Programme). In 2001 she was appointed as Acting Co-ordinator of the DVAP assisting other advice officers with the running of their offices and workshops; and assisted in preparing materials and manuals for training workshops on Domestic violence. In 2003 she attended the school for Legal Practice and thereafter completed her articles at Jayshree Moodley & Associates. She admitted as an Attorney in June 2005. Since then she has continued in private practice. In September 2011 she re-joined our firm as an associate specializing in the fields of Family Law and Administration of Deceased estates. Mrs. Gounden is currently on the panel of Attorneys for Scorpion Legal Protection – Extended Services, a legal expenses insures and deals with matters relating to maintenance, protection orders, divorce and transfers of property and administration of estates.
